FOTOGALERIE WIEN was founded in 1982 by a team of seven art photographers. Then as now the goal has been to present current and experimental art photography across borders. In the meantime about 200 exhibitions have been held. A fundamental concern of FOTOGALERIE WIEN is the commitment to present not only internationally renowned artists but above all the work of younger photographers from Austria and abroad.
FOTOGALERIE WIEN organizes ten exhibitions a year. Since 1985 every exhibition has been documented by an issue of the invitation magazine BILDER, which is sent to approximately 2500 interested persons in Austria and abroad. This publication is supplemented by two catalogues a year. Since 1995 all the exhibitions have also been documented by video recordings
